Jan is an award winning artist who began painting professionally after a management career with AT&T.

Jan is known for her use of bold, hot colors and outsider art tendencies and agrees with Vincent Van Gogh’s philosophy that “Color in a picture is like enthusiasm in life.”

Jan works in a wide variety of media. She paints in watercolor, oil, acrylics and creates mixed media collages, makes mirrors and sculpture with found objects, metal and jewels, and creates unique painted furniture pieces. She creates colorful pet portrait collages, as well. “Heavy texture appeals to me,” says Jan. Maybe that explains the magnetism of her art. Today, Jan’s paintings hang in collections throughout the South.

She has studied with prominent artists Terry Madden, Robert Burridge, Stephen Quiller, Betsy Dillard-Stroud, Vae Hamilton and Judy Soprano and with distinguished local artists Kathy Cuiffi, Elise Hammond and Cindy Murphy. She is a certified instructor for the Terry Madden method of watercolor painting and color theory.

Jan operates Picasso Kids @ Heartscapes at Heartscapes Art Gallery & Custom Framing in Covington, GA, where she teaches weekly children’s art classes. She is represented by Van Go’s Gallery, Covington, GA, and Broughton Artists’ Market in Madison, GA.

Jan served as Secretary-Treasurer of Southern Heartland Arts, Inc. for five years, served on the board of directors four years and was one of the original founders of the Southern Heartland Art Gallery. She is currently a member of the Art Lovers League, Covington, GA, the Monroe Art Guild, Monroe, GA, the North Georgia Artist Guild, Clayton, GA, and the Eastern Shore Art Center, Fairhope, AL.

Wow! I can't wait for everyone to see the new storefront at 132 W Jefferson in Madison....we aren't quite moved in yet, but the progress!
We had many of the other local merchants as well as tourists and locals come by the store yesterday to welcome us to the neighborhood. How wonderful to feel so welcomed already!

Exciting news! The talented artists of the Broughton Artists' Group are going to Madison! We are opening a gift market (Just in time for the holidays!) in downtown Madison at 132 W Jefferson Street. As usual, you can expect 100% expertly handcrafted items in a variety of mediums such as pottery, jewelry, fine art paintings, fused glass, knitted accessories, mixed media sculpture, folk art and much more!

Broughton Artists' Fall Show

Can you believe how the year has flown by???? It is time to start planning your visit to the beautiful countryside on Broughton Road for the Fall Broughton Artists' Show! Remember that we have a wonderful variety of interesting and unique artists that are ready to share their latest creations, as well as delicious refreshments and cozy atmosphere. The opening reception will be Friday, October 28th from 6:00pm to 9:00(ish!)pm. Regular show hours are Saturday, October 29th from 10:00-5:00 and Sunday, October 30th from 12:00-5:00. We can't wait to show you what we have been working on!

Spring Broughton Artists' Show!

We are going back to our roots... please come join us for the Spring Broughton Artists' Show! We will have your favorite artists from the past shows, and some fabulous new ones.
